Smooth experience, decent learning

I purchased the Babbel Live Group Classes for German last month. Ordering was straightforward on their website. The confirmation email arrived quickly. Delivery, or rather access, was instant. The platform is pretty intuitive. I had a small question about scheduling a class, and customer support replied within a day, which was helpful. The quality of the lessons is good, the instructors are knowledgeable. Overall, a solid experience from start to finish. The speech recognition software sometimes needs a few tries to pick up my pronunciation, but it's not a major issue.

Mostly good, some tech glitches

I got the Babbel App for a Spanish Course. The overall learning content is effective, and I found the Vocabulary Trainer really useful. Getting the subscription was easy enough. However, I did notice the app sometimes crashes on my older tablet, which is a bit annoying when I'm in the middle of a lesson. Delivery of access was instant, and customer service was fine when I asked about a billing detail. Good value for what it offers, just wish the app was a bit more stable across all devices.

Good value for Spanish course

I was looking for a decent language app that wasn't too expensive. Found a good deal on the Babbel App for Spanish. The 12-month subscription offer felt like the best bang for my buck compared to other options. It felt worth the purchase, definitely saving some money compared to monthly payments.

Consistent quality, keeps me coming back

I've been using Babbel for a while now, starting with Italian, and recently added the Portuguese Course. This latest purchase reinforced why I stick with them. The learning structure is consistent across languages, which makes it easy to switch. I know what to expect. This order, like my previous ones, was smooth from checkout to getting access. It's reliable, and that's a big part of why I keep renewing and expanding my subscriptions with Babbel.

Learned some German fast

So I decided to try Babbel for German, just to see if I could pick up a few phrases for a trip. Got the Babbel App, and honestly, it was pretty cool. The lessons are short enough that I didn't get bored, and I actually learned some useful stuff surprisingly quickly. Felt pretty good about it, easy to use on my phone whenever I had a few minutes.

Hey guys, thinking about getting Babbel for Spanish. How long did it take you all to feel like you could actually hold a conversation?

B Brett Marsh 1 month ago
It really depends how much you use it, but I felt pretty comfortable with basic stuff after a few months. Like ordering food and asking for directions.

L Lisa Romero 1 month ago
Yeah, I'd say a few months for simple conversations. If you do the Live classes too, that speeds it up a lot though.

My partner and I both want to learn Italian. Can we use the same Babbel account on different devices, like my phone and their tablet?

J June Kim 2 months ago
Yup, you can use it on multiple devices. I use it on my phone and my laptop without issues.

What's the deal with Babbel Live? Is that part of the regular subscription or do you have to pay extra for those classes?

M Marcus R. 2 months ago
Babbel Live is a separate thing, unfortunately. It's not included in the standard app subscription, you gotta pay extra for those live classes.

P Phil W. 1 month ago
It's a separate subscription. The app is one thing, the live classes are another package you buy on top if you want them.

Hey, I'm a student, is there any kind of discount for us? Trying to save some cash.

N Nina N. 1 month ago
Yeah, they usually have student discounts. Check their redemption page, I think you might need to verify through something like UniDays.

I got a student discount last year, so they definitely offer them. Look for the student section on their site.

I saw something about a lifetime subscription discount. Is that still a thing or was it a Black Friday special?

C Cody Beaumont 2 months ago
They usually have those around major holidays or sometimes just pop up. Keep an eye on their site or sign up for emails.

I got mine last summer, so they definitely run them at different times, not just Black Friday.

Thinking of trying Babbel for French but also looking at Duolingo. Anyone used both and have thoughts on which is better?

L Laura Brooks 2 months ago
Babbel is way more practical, focuses on real conversation. Duolingo is fun for games but not as much for actual speaking.
6
D Dana Q. 2 months ago
Yeah, if you want to actually speak, go with Babbel. Duolingo is good for getting started but it's more like a game.

Is Babbel legit? I see all these ads and it seems almost too good to be true for learning a new language.

G Gwen 2 months ago
Totally legit. Been using it for German for almost a year. Way better than just flipping through a textbook.

Yeah, it's real. My friend used it for Italian before her trip and got by just fine.
